15 years ago I developed chorebuster.net, an automatic chore schedule generator. Time passed, technology moved on and it became neglected.
For the last 10 years I’ve been using Drupal for most of my work but with the decline of Drupal it became clear that it was time to move to a new platform. After many experiments and trials I settled on a framework called Flask, using the Python language.
It takes time, effort and the right opportunity to learn a new framework and language. Rebuilding ChoreBuster using Flask was a great opportunity – it has 15 years of data and a fair bit of logic involved so it was a good workout. At the start of 2019 there was plenty of time available but paid work got busy again around March so it wasn’t until October that I finished.
